"AVOID ASSUMPTIONS!"
Growing up within my family circle, I was always around this phrase that "the most obvious things are not the real things". Think about that for a moment.
Once in my life, I saw a neighbor adding some whitish substance into their porridge beans and I was absolutely certain that it was salt that they were adding. But to my surprise when I tasted it, it was sugar. I learnt for the first time that day that some people add sugar to beans porridge.
If you really want to live live to and for the fullest, then AVOID ASSUMPTIONS IN EVERY WAY AS YOU CAN!
Assumptions can often lead to misunderstandings and conflicts, and hinder us from truly understanding others and the world around us.
The most obvious things are not always the real things.
When we assume, we operate on incomplete information, relying on our own biases and preconceived notions. This can lead to a narrow perspective, overlooking different viewpoints and possibilities. By avoiding assumptions, we open ourselves up to new ideas and experiences, fostering a more inclusive and empathetic society.
In our personal relationships, assumptions can be detrimental. When we assume we know what someone else is thinking or feeling, without actually communicating with them, we risk misinterpreting their intentions and emotions. This can result in unnecessary tension and strain in our relationships. Many "Happily Ever Afters" have sunk at this "ice berg".
Likewise, in our professional lives, assumptions can lead to misunderstandings and errors in judgment. Making assumptions about our coworkers' capabilities or intentions can undermine teamwork and collaboration. It is crucial to seek clarification and understanding, to ensure our decisions are based on facts rather than assumptions.
You can avoid assumptions by activating active listening, open-mindedness, and willingness to question our own biases. By asking questions and seeking to understand others, we create an environment that encourages open communication and fosters stronger connections.
So, make a conscious and deliberate effort to suppress that your "C.I.D" mentality that is often suspicion without cause. Instead, boldly embrace curiosity and empathy, approaching each situation with an open mind and strictly on it's own merit.
Do not leave it to chance but make it a conscious decision.
By doing so, we can build stronger relationships, make better decisions, and create a more harmonious and inclusive community with very little or no bad blood at all.
